To prevent people from adding you to WhatsApp groups without your consent, follow these steps:
1. Go to Settings:
- Open WhatsApp and go to Settings by tapping the three dots (menu) in the top-right corner (on Android) or the gear icon at the bottom-right (on iOS).
2. Navigate to Privacy Settings:
- On Android: Go to Settings > Privacy.
- On iOS: Go to Settings > Account > Privacy.
3. Manage Group Settings:
- Scroll down and tap on Groups.
- You will see three options for who can add you to groups:
- Everyone: Anyone can add you to a group.
- My Contacts: Only people saved in your contacts can add you to groups.
- My Contacts Except...: Choose specific contacts who cannot add you to groups.
4. Select "My Contacts Except..." (Optional):
- If you choose "My Contacts Except...", you can select specific contacts who will be restricted from adding you to groups.
5. Confirm:
- Once you make your selection, tap Done (on Android) or Save (on iOS), and the changes will take effect.
This feature was introduced to give users more control over group invitations, allowing you to prevent unwanted group adds without blocking or removing contacts entirely.
By adjusting these settings, you can reduce the chances of being added to WhatsApp groups without your permission.
